12/20/2023 0 Comments Verizon ringtones get it nowBut, at the moment, the experience via this app is not ideal, and doesn't provide a fool-proof plan. Once I get to the point that I can consistently and reliably assign Caller AND SMS ringtones via RingoPro, I'll post the instructions and requirements here so that others can benefit. At the current time, I'm collecting data for them and should expect some initial responses for the data later in the week. I've already been in communication with the RingoPro support team who've been VERY helpful so far. I seem to be having a problem where Ringo Pro enters a state that it is no longer able to "preview" ringtones, and due to this, causes any assignments of ringtones to show as "Unknown Tone". I'm currently trying to get RingoPro working on my phone. You can set a single SMS ringtone, but not per user (no matter where the contact resides) SMS Ringtones per-user do not appear to be a built-in function of the phone at all. Note: Alternatively, you can do the Link first, then go back to the Music Player, find your Ringtone, then Set As, then Caller Ringtone, and that person should now show up on the list (below the default #BAL/etc) Click on the "Phone" tab, and then scroll down to the Ringtone field. From this point, when you hit Edit on the contact, you should have two tabs at the top. If you use the same exact name, it should auto-link it to the same contact you have in Gmail Contacts. Phone: Then enter the First/Last name of the person you want to assign per-User ringtone, then Save (you do not need to input phone numbers or any other information). The solution discussed above is to go into Contacts -> Create Contact -> Save Contact to. (This seems to be a severe oversight by Samsung, and would hopefully be resolved with the 2.2 update). If you play a ringtone, then hit menu, then "Set As", Caller Ringtone, the list of Contacts you see are ONLY the contacts which exist in "My Phone". Download and use of the application (including browsing and previewing. This means that if you have synchronized your contacts via a Google Gmail account, there is no direct way to assign a ringtone to those contacts. Verizon Tones now offers you more Ringback Tone management options than ever before. UMG feels it does not.The phone currently supports setting "per-Caller" ringtones for contacts which exist wholly within the Phone's internal contact book. Should the lawsuits proceed, it will raise an interesting issue over whether the use of an artist’s image to promote mobile content in fact amounts to an endorsement. “We cannot and will not allow Bob Marley’s name and likeness to be used in such a manner without the authorization of the family.” “I am infuriated that Verizon would go around the estate and initiate partnership with Universal Music Group,” Blackwell said. The origin of the dispute can be tracked back to March, when Verizon refused to enter into an endorsement agreement with the Marley estate when Blackwell asked for $1 million. Sources said UMG will not reimburse Verizon in any way for ending the exclusive early, citing Verizon’s voluntary decision to remove the ringtones. Usually, operators either pay cash or provide in-kind promotion for labels in return for an exclusive. What that means for the deal between Verizon and UMG is not clear. Those ringtones have shipped and should be available to purchase as early as this week. That exclusive term has not yet expired, but UMG issued a statement saying that it would make the disputed Marley ringtones available to other U.S. Sources said Verizon had a 30-day exclusive on the ringtones, ringback tones and other mobile content gained through the agreement. A Verizon spokeswoman said the company initially removed the content to let UMG and the Marley estate reach an agreement but reversed course after the Blackwell statement.Īs a result of the initial takedown, however, Verizon has now lost its exclusive on the Marley content. At press time, they were not available via Verizon’s Web site but can be found and downloaded via the mobile phone. In response, Verizon added the ringtones back. Verizon last week removed the offending ringtones but grew angry when Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records (now owned by UMG) and adviser to the Marleys, issued a statement claiming that Verizon “ceded to the Marley family estate demands.” The Marley family, through its Fifty Six Hope Road Music company, threatened to sue, claiming that the deal represents an endorsement of Verizon by the late singer. Last month, Verizon Wireless struck an exclusive licensing deal with Universal Music Group for the entire Bob Marley catalog. DENVER - The lawsuits haven’t even been filed yet, but already the dispute over Bob Marley’s ringtones is heating up.
